Laka Skin Care & Spa: Hot Stone Massage, Jade Stone Facial
New year, new reminder to invest in self-care! I had my first experience at Laka Skin Care and Spa a little over a year ago, and I’ve only made it back twice since. Not as much as I would have liked, but three times after having never been to a spa before is actually pretty good!
Just like last year, it’s one of my resolutions to remember to take time to do more self-care & pamper myself every now and again.
I wanted to try a different experience, so I went for more firsts! I got my first ever hot stone massage and first ever stone facial. Both were FANTASTIC!
The Massage
So here’s my experience…I’ve always seen the classic spa picture- taken from the side, of a woman laying on her back, with a four stones placed in a line on the backbone, and the woman is smiling & chilling. That’s what I thought a hot stone massage was!– That hot stones are just placed on you and sit there, in place, until they cool down. I was pleasantly surprised to learn that it’s much more than that. You actually get massaged with the stones. To me, the massage felt just as deep into my muscles as a regular massage! So imagine your best massage, but instead of being rubbed by hands, you are being massaged by warm, oily stones! IT. WAS. HEAVEN. I feel like there is no going back to a traditional massage after this. Jay was my masseuse, & I’ve heard she’s one of their absolute best! Jay said the Hot Stone Massage also helps to improve the body’s overall energy. So after the massage was done and I was raving about how amazingly relaxed I was feeling, she told me I’d be feeling even better later in the day. It was incredibly therapeutic, and I felt rejuvenated and relaxed through the rest of the day.

The Facial
The facial was so wonderful as well! It started off similar to the other two facials I’ve received- with cleansing, exfoliation, an extraction or two, amazing aromas, and different products being rubbed into my skin which felt amazing. Then came the face massage with the jade stones. This massaged the products into my skin and also massaged all of my face and neck muscles. I love all types of massages, so the fact that this facial comes with an extra long relaxing massage, I am ALL for it. Out of the three that I’ve had, this was my favorite facial yet!

It was another wonderful experience at Laka Skin Care & Spa! From start to finish, my time there is always so lovely. The experience starts right when you walk in the door, with the comfy slippers that you slide into, and water and tea that is offered before changing into your robe. Even after the service is done, you still get pampered with tea and gelato! You can’t beat that.
